Who are you?
I’m Julien Deniau, 33 years old. From the suburbs of Paris, I live in Barcelona since 2000. Skater and freelance photographer for almost 20 years, start filming for the French documentaries and painting when it’s raining.

Where are you right now?
In Paris, trying to work a bit.

What’s your current camera set up?
I have an old Hasselblad 300M, Nikon D200 with long lens and fisheye 10,5 and a old Canon ftb with different lenses.

Today’s photographer, Guillaume Périmony, 24, Amiens, France, is best known for his video work, which has already been featured here on SI.

Who are you?
I’m Guillaume Périmony, 24, i’m living in AMIENS CITY, north of France.
I’m filming skateboard stuffs most of the time, and i take some pictures when is possible (which is really rare). I’m also skateboarding when there’s no footage going on.

Where are you right now?
At work. Lunching.

This is the first skateinfusion’s photographer profile of the new decade.

Hi Brice, who are you?

Brice Gelot, independant photographer, 24 years old.
At the present time, I live in Dijon, a small french town. I belong to 2 collectives : eternal-core that I’ve created in 2005 and I joined feel frame created in 2009.
I take skate and bmx pictures because I’m surrounded by this atmosphere since childhood. Then, I began to take pictures of my friends and I evolved.
Now i’m really interested in reporting.

Where are you right now?

At the moment, I’m at home with my girlfriend.

What’s your current camera set up?

I only work with Canon, especially with Eos 5D Mark II, 7D, Canon lenses and my old 300D rebel.

I don’t skate, only some bmx.
I began photography in 1999 with my friends. I work with teams like Antiz, Syndrom, Doble, Shifty and I work for Volcom Europe.

What inspires you?
In photography like in my life, I’m inspired by reporting…I want to show my vision, my ideas through my photos.

It’s a great pleasure and honor to have J. Grant Brittain on skateinfusion for a photographer profile today !

Hi Grant, who are you?
J. Grant Brittain, 53 years old, Leo, live in Encinitas with wife, two teens, cat and puppy. Just trying to live the best I can in this short time we have. I try to surf when the swell hits. I am a photographer, I shoot skateboarding for my job and artsy stuff for fun and sanity. I am part owner of The Skateboard Mag in Solana Beach, CA. I want to be buried with my Leica.

Where are you right now?
I am home with a puppy trying to keep her from peeing on the floor.

What’s your current camera set up?
For skateboarding, Canon Eos-1d Mark 2, Canon lenses, Hasselblad 301 CW, Leica M6 and Canon G9 and a shit-load of other cameras.

My name is Philipp Bayer and i’m from austria (styria). I’m 20 years old, and for 4 years I’m taking pictures of snowboarding, skateboarding and biking.

Where are you right now?
I’m at home in front of my mac.

What’s your current camera set up?
NIKON Elite!!!! A bunch of Pocket Wizards and ProPhoto flashers.

What’s your current skateboard set up?
I’m riding the same DGK deck for one year. I got Indy trucks and Jart Wheels. At christmas my friend Julian Köstinger gave me a new Plan-B Ryan Scheckler.

What inspires you?
FLICKR, the american lifestyle, beautiful summerdays, good lighted and colourfull skate and snowboard pictures, secret spots which look unable to skate, watching chicks at skating or taking pictures (haha), snow splashes on pictures and good electronic and dirty south music

Autobahn – Flashgordon! Flashgordon is a Hip Hop/Electronic producer out of Hamburg. I like his mixtapes and his tracks with famous samples.

Who are you?
My name is Aaron Smith. I’m 21 years old. I’m originally from Kansas City but now I live in Atlanta, GA going to photography school. My main source of income is selling photos at this point.

Where are you right now?
I’m answering these questions from the comfort of my bed while talking on the phone with Maddie Phillips. She thinks I should make up all these answers because she thinks it would be funny.

What’s your current camera set up?
My current camera set up consist of a Canon 5D, Hasselblad 501c, Nikon D2H, and a Holga.

What’s your current skateboard set up?
I recently broke my foot about 3 weeks ago so I haven’t looked at my board in a while but here’s what I remember. Habitat Danny Garcia board, Thunder trucks, old Malto Spitfire wheels, and a mix match of everything else.

What inspires you?
Lots of stuff! Both skateboard related and art related. Magazines, books, music, skate videos, movies, friends, and stuff like that. I get real pumped watching either Ryan Lovell’s new Kansas City video Fourteen Deep or Chris Thiessen’s new Atlanta video Meanwhile. All the new Lakai stuff gets me pretty pumped. Stuff like that I guess.

1- Who are you?
I’m Fred, 42 year’s old, I live in Bordeaux in france south west and I’m a  phys. ed. teacher

2- Where are you right now?
nursing a pretty heavy headache

3- What’s your current camera set up?
body: 1D mkIII,
lenses: peleng fisheye 8mm, canon 50mm 1.8, canon 70-200mm 2.8, canon 17-35mm 2.8
I have radio slave, thanx to Alex Pires, an off shoe cord and 2 canon flashes (one is a gift from D. Manaud, thanx to him too)

4- What’s your current skateboard set up? You bet ! my all time favorite board is the Skaterbuilt VRSII, wobbly indy’s  169, skaterbuilt poolsideflavors wheels 60mm, 99 duro, white khiro bushings (really mellow), and some good old rails just to get the old style look. check out skaterbuilt on the net, great company !

5- What inspires you?
In photography: I’m an avid reader, I love art (my mama is a great painter ) and also I constantly browse the net searching for nice images & inspiration, for example I find site like The Big Picture very interesting, image and text wise.
In life, family matters the most.

6- Who inspires you?

really I’m like a sponge, I love to share and meet other people. I don’t consider myself a photographer, it’s just a tool I use to freeze a moment in life, it could have been painting but I suck at it… then getting to know some real photographers and learning tips from them has been a great help.
if I have to name a few photogs:
Mofo’s pictures in the old thrasher defined what a skateboarding pic should be for me.
Glen E Friedman, of course, behind the lense and also for his feeling to discover what’s going to be great !
recently I discovered the work of Bryan Lathrop from Philly, we have a lot in common, Alexey Lapin from moscow russia, guys I learned a lot from are Jeff “master” Barrusseau, David Manaud, Tjeerd Derkink, Chrissie Steigt.

photographer profile #6: A Pair of Brown Eyes

1- Who are you?
I’m 26. When i was a kid my only chance to be free was to work hard at school. Now i live in French California and have a good job in aeronautic industry as mechanical manufacturing engineer. I use my free time for living my second life with photography, concerts, snowboarding, travelling, creating with the photographers collective La Visu and partying with the local skate scene. 
I am proud to be independant and make all i want. 

2- Where are you right now?
At home. It’s friday, i’m back from work and too tired to get out. I try to manage many stuffs like preparing a photo exhibition for november, pay home tax, buy fly tickets to go to Paris next month, planning my christmas hollidays in Algeria and choose a camera for tomorrow because i’ll go to Bilbao in Spain for the day.   

3- What’s your current camera set up?
Mamiya 645 with 35/3.5 and 80/2.8 
Canon AE1 with 24/2.8 macro and 50/1.4
Zero Image 6×6 Pinhole Camera
Holga 120GN
Fuji Velvia and Sensia for cross processing. 
Kodac Provia for color. 
Fuji Neopan 400 for black and white. I develope at home with Tetenal. 
I stop numeric for the moment because i think we are in the fatal last years for analogic. film is not dead yet but it’s now or never!!!

 

 

4- What’s your current skateboard set up?

i don’t skate anymore since i lost a piece of tooth when i was 16. if i had a deck, it will be certainly a Jart or Anagram or Rekiem for support local brands. 

5- What inspires you?
Life and light! Action shots is not my cup of tea. I just try to capture magic moments on Earth. 
My close friends and lovers inspire me for portraits. It’s too difficult to shot unknow for me. 
Travels and surf lifestyle are goods subjects. 
I also feel concerned by politic, social and ecology and it’s feeds my most personnals projects. 

6- Who inspires you?
skateboarders over 30 years old and war photographers.

photographer profile #5: Olli Oilinki

Olli Oilinki, Oilinki, 25, Oulu, Finland

1- Who are you?
My name is Olli Oilinki, I’m 25 at the moment and live in Oulu, northern Finland. I’m a full-time student of English Philology at the University of Oulu and shoot photos on the side, mostly skateboarding for a Finnish mag called Hang Up, but also other assorted mags and companies. I’ve had some stuff in Kingpin and an Onboard cover, but I’m small potatoes. Whatever money I make from shooting usually goes right back into camera gear and film.

2- Where are you right now?
Right now I’m soothing a hangover with a cold lager at my girlfriend’s flat. I’m sort of homeless at the moment, I sublented my own flat since I’m leaving for Australia in a few weeks.

3- What’s your current camera set up?
I still mostly shoot film, my two main cameras are my darling Hasselblad 2000FC and a lovely Nikon FM-2. For the Hassy, I’ve got a 80/2.8 CF and a 150/4 C T*, A12 and A16 backs, polaroid back, etc. All black, mang. Nikkors include 16/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8, and 80-200/2.8. I do have a Nikon D70 for proofing and assignments, I might get a D3 or a D300 some time down the road. For lighting, I’ve got two Nikon SB-28′s and two Sunpak 120J’s, Pocket Wizards, Manfrotto 001 stands and all sorts of crap for diffusing, colouring and snooting. Everything goes into a Lowepro Phototrekker AWII, it’s a really good, solid bag that is easy on your back.

5- What inspires you?
For photography, I’m mostly inspired by other people’s photos. I’m constantly surfing the net and browsing old and new skatemags, photo books and basically anything I can get my hands on. In life, I’m inspired by Indian food, good coffee, courtyards, literature, film noir, Monty Python and beer.

6- Who inspires you?
Too many to name all. Deeli, Antton Miettinen, Humphries, Sturt, Ryan McGinley, Yousuf Karsh, LIFE photographers, friends, the list is endless. Hiroshi Sugimoto blew me away a while back.

1- Who are you?
I’m 19, I live in Northampton home of the greatest skatepark ever, Radlands. rip heh. Just finished a foundation art at uni here and now having a year out to do my own thing.

2- Where are you right now?
I am at my house, just got in from job hunting and now listening to Amnesiac.

3- What’s your current camera set up?
I have a few 35mm’s like my Canon EOS1, Canon EXEE and a Kodak retinette IB. Also I have a Hasselblad 500c/m which is out of action due to the lens. I have a Bronica ETRSi with 75mm, 150mm & 30mm lens’ speed grip, WLF & prism. Erm a few pocketwizards and some cheap flashes. Oh and finally I have a Sony VX1000 for filming purposes.

I have a Louie Enjoi cruiser for chilling and filming and then I have a motive 7.75″, Venture trucks and some random wheels/bearings. OBJECT HARDWARE.
